Stefano Galiasso
Visiting Research Engineer
Mr. Galiasso has over two years of experience
in the energy field. He joined the Energy Resources Center (ERC)
of the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) in June 2009 working
as a Visiting Research Engineer to perform energy assessments and
to support the research on distributed generation (DG) and combined
heat and power (CHP) technologies and concepts for the regional
Midwest Clean Energy Application Center (MAC). He also joined the
Industrial Assessment Center (IAC) on several occasions providing
insights on Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems,
thanks to his unique academic background and research experience.
His research was focused on dynamic building energy simulation and
ended in a sensitivity analysis of the results of different retrofit
opportunities on a commercial and office building. Prior to join
the ERC and before starting his Masters, he worked as a quality
engineer intern in 2006 at COMAU Spa in Torino, Italy, where he
developed a pre-feasibility checklist to support the design team
at the feasibility stage, helping to reduce the time to market by
one month over the automotive industry typical 15 months period.
In 2001 he worked as a marketing intern at Socaut Vibratori Srl
in Treiso, Italy, helping to develop the Company's image collaborating
with Yellow pages and the website designers.
Mr. Galiasso holds a Bachelor's Degree in Automotive
Engineering. During his Masters Degree he was awarded a scholarship
to enter a joint program between the Politecnico di Torino and the
UIC and successfully completed an 18 months double degree program
towards the completion of the Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering
at the University of Illinois at Chicago and the Politecnico di
Torino, where he graduated with honors.
