Mr. Corral is an engineer for the Energy Solutions Group (ESG) at the Energy Resources Center (ERC). Prior to joining the ESG, Mr. Corral was part of the Industrial Assessment Center (IAC), which is a federally funded program focused on improving the energy and productivity efficiency of industrial facilities. Through his experience at the IAC, he assessed the effectiveness of industrial processes and the energy efficiency of the supporting systems at a wide variety of industrial facilities. Drawing on his IAC experience, Mr. Corral provides creative yet feasible solutions to facilities that help them save energy and increase productivity. Currently, Mr. Corral is involved as part of a team with the Chicago Industrial Rebuild Program (CIRP) sponsored by the Chicago Department of Environment, which is focused on providing energy, productivity, and waste assessments to industrial facilities located within the City of Chicago. This program has helped specific industries such as metal casting, chemical, confectionary and paper and pulp conserve energy and reduce waste production. In addition to CIRP, Mr. Corral is also working on other ERC initiatives. He is involved in developing an energy management program for the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). Mr. Corral is involved in the development of literature detailing the energy saving potential of new industrial technologies for the US Army Corps of Engineers Construction Engineering Research Laboratory (CERL).
