Weatherization ERC and the Illinois Department of Energy and Natural Resources cooperatively carried out the Weatherization Audit Training Workshop for Teachers and Students (WATTS). The objective of WATTS was to provide practical, intensive training for high school teachers and their students in the techniques of large facility energy audits. The participants were taught to recognize and correct energy waste in school buildings, as well as make recommendations for improving building efficiency. The program involved summer workshops including on-site work in the preparation of an ICP application. Upon successful completion of the program, teachers and students assisted in the implementation of an energy audit of their school.
