Total Assessment Audit - Metal Casters
The State of Illinois has recognized the importance
of the metal casting industry to our overall economic well-being
and security. This project was instituted to assist this sector's
long term viability by helping individual foundries address their
operational costs, waste streams, production efficiencies, and business
planning. In observing, analyzing, and providing solutions to the
operation and management of metal casting firms, the project team
hopes to define a pathway for those firms' growth and the sector's
health.
The Total Assessment Audit (TAA) process identifies
process improvements, deficiencies, technological opportunities,
and, where possible, provides cost-benefit analysis for recommendations
to clients in the metal casting industry to make beneficial and
forward-looking strategic decisions. Additionally, continuing follow-up
availability and services to clients by the various participating
team organizations help ensure the implementation of recommendations
and access to other opportunities as they arise.
The individual on-site services of the TAA procedure
for metal casting facilities involves a number of coordinated tasks,
including:
- Assembly of specialists and experts into
an audit team;
- Pre-audit baseline data collection;
- Process mapping
- The on-site assessment tour;
- The post-audit closure meeting;
- Data analysis; and,
- Presentation of recommendations to the
firm and report generation.
