High Performance Residential Buildings In this first of a large series of UIC building science projects being planned with NCEMBT, ERC is analyzing high performance wall construction and ventilation systems for energy efficient, airtight homes in collaboration with DOE’s Building America (BA) Program. ERC is carrying out both computer simulations of buildings as well as monitoring of test homes in conjunction with BA consortiums, such as Steven Winter Associates (SWA) and their Consortium for Advanced Residential Buildings (CARB). A workshop on high performance walls involving experts from the building community was held here on campus and cohosted with SWA.
