Projects

The ERC staff works across all market sectors
on projects spanning the spectrum of energy issues and the full
range of options for today’s energy consumer. By continually
seeking out new projects, opportunities and partners, ERC maintains
its position at the forefront of the energy industry.
ERC projects impact the Industrial, Commercial
and Residential markets as well as the areas of Economics, Power
Generation and Energy Procurement.
Current ERC project areas include:
Industrial
The ERC provides an invaluable tool for many industrial sites through
the performance of energy audits and assessments. Through partnerships
with both private and public organizations, the ERC strives to improve
the efficiency of energy use throughout the Midwest while exploring
the viability of emerging technologies in the industrial setting.
Commercial
Conservation and total load reduction are at the core of the work
ERC performs in the commercial sector. Working closely with clients
and utilities alike, ERC promotes energy awareness and efficient
practices and strategies across every sector of the commercial marketplace.
Residential
Through education and on-site inspections, ERC promotes efficient
energy use in homes though out the Midwest. In addition, ERC provides
technical assistance and partners with outside organizations to
secure funding for efficiency upgrades.
Economics
The impacts of research, technologies and governmental regulations
can best be understood in the terms of economic analysis. ERC’s
projects in this area shed light on the far reaching effects of
new technologies and governmental regulations on the energy industry,
and assist decision makers that determine the direction of the market
in the future.
Power Generation
Many ERC projects center around the development of on-site generation
technology. In the laboratory, the field and the conference room,
ERC works with public and private organizations to transform the
potential of these emerging technologies into reality.
Energy Procurement
In the deregulated energy market, uninformed consumers are increasingly
vulnerable to the fluctuations of commodity prices. ERC helps institutions
and businesses to mitigate financial risk by developing strategic
purchasing plans for natural gas and electric commodities.
