GTI Gas Technology Evalation Program

The Gas Technology Institute (GTI) Gas Technology Program is the centerpiece of ERC’s Policy and Assessment Group. Sponsored by GTI since 1987, new gas technologies in a wide range of applications have been evaluated using engineering, economic, and market analysis techniques in the following areas:

  • Measuring the market impact of GTI-sponsored commercialized technologiesDetermining GTI’s corporate performance
  • Detailed Cost-Benefit analysis of Selected GTI-sponsored research
  • Natural Gas Supply and Demand Analysis

Examples of GTI-sponsored Evaluation Projects:

  • Venting/Flue Gas Management Project – This project assessed the market impacts of the GTI-developed venting installation guidelines and vent-sizing tables for mid-effiency, fan-assisted natural gas furnaces.
  • Cement Lock Technology Assessment – This project forecasted the profitability and diffusion of the new “Cement Lock” process invented by the Gas Technology Institute to process contaminated soils and sediment waste into a stabilized product known as Ecomelt.
  • Condensing Furnace Modeling Project – This project aided the development of a second-generation computer model of FURNACE – a three dimensional furnace performance simuation model to aid furnace designers in identifying critical design flaws.
