IAC Program Results

Program Benefits and Features

  • Assessments are provided at no direct cost to participating companies.

  • Provides facilities with objective information to help make them cleaner, more productive, and more energy-efficient.

  • Experienced engineering faculty and students from local universities conduct the assessments.

  • The plant incurs no obligation to act on any recommendations.

  • Client proprietary information is protected.

Assessment Reports

Assessment reports are provided to the company once all the information is processed and compiled into coherent recommendations. The report is held confidentially between the IAC and the company. Recommendations are also submitted to the IAC Database withholding the company information.

Post-Audit Follow-up

About six months after the final report is delivered to the company, final follow-up is conducted to determine which recommenations were ultimately implemented, which are still under consideration, and reasons for not implementing the remaining recommendations. For recommendations that have been implemented, the plant representative is asked to provide implementation cost data and savings data projected or obtained so far. Information on what recommendations have been implemented by each client, and the cost and energy savings data are compiled and sent to the IAC database.

The implementation data provides a means of obtaining formal documentation of the total savings as a result of the services provided by both the UIC IAC in particular, and the national IAC Program. This formal documentation also contributes to a data base of information on the implementation rate and cost-effectiveness of specific energy conservation technologies in various categories of manufacturing facilities.
