National Center for Energy Managment and Building Technologies (NCEMBT)

The new National Center for Energy Management and Building Technologies (NCEMBT) is operated by the National Energy Management Institute (NEMI). NEMI is a not-for-profit organization created in 1981 by the Sheet Metal Workers’ International Association (SMWIA) and the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association (SMACNA). NCEMBT is a not-for-profit research institution with the mission to lead industry to a better future for buildings through improvements in security, indoor environmental quality, energy management, and other energy efficiency technologies. To help realize its mission, the NCEMBT has established key partnerships with not only NEMI, but with the U.S. Department of Energy (US DOE), University of Nevada at Las Vegas (UNLV), University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), Building Diagnostics Research Institute (BDRI), and International Training Institute (ITI). Through these key partnerships, NCEMBT is able to fund research and direct the collective expertise of researchers from multiple disciplines to advance technology applications, expand educational and professional knowledge, improve the safety of indoor environments, and create public policy for the benefit of public health and economic growth.
